Who We Are

The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has approximately 2.4 million members, 11,100 congregations and 14,000 ordained and active ministers. Presbyterians trace their history to the 16th century and the Protestant Reformation. Our heritage, and much of what we believe, began with the French lawyer John Calvin (1509-1564), whose writings crystallized much of the Reformed thinking that came before him.

The Presbyterian Church in Needham, MA is a community dedicated to spreading the love of God to all and nurture the faith of families and children. Our mission is to create an environment where we are led by the Holy Spirit as we:

▪  worship God in song  and prayer and hear God’s word;
▪  celebrate and nurture our love for one another in fellowship and recreation through Christ;
▪  learn and share our faith with joy; and
▪  share God’s gifts to meet the needs of others.

Goals:  In worship we aim to have sermons that are Biblically guided, relevant to today, and relevant to those seeking faith.  We hope to nurture our love for one another through regular fellowship events and small group meetings, and we encourage interested members to work in teams to organize other fellowship or recreational activities.  To learn and share our faith, The Presbyterian Church in Needham, MA gives priority to a Christian Education program for children and adults, and aspires to make it a central activity in our church.  We share God’s gifts to help meet others’ needs by encouraging members to be actively connected with ecumenical mission programs involving local needs, hosting mission projects to which we could invite non-members to participate, and supporting national mission projects financially and with prayer throughout the year.  In our community, we are committed to becoming known as a place where people can find the peace of Christ through worship, meditation (especially through the prayer labyrinth), and fellowship.
