The Pantry is operated by a volunteer board of directors, volunteer operations staff, and a part time outreach worker.

Today the pantry has grown into one of the largest and most efficient social service providers in the region.

Since the beginning, there has been an overwhelming increase in the number of families in the region. The number of individuals requiring assistance through the year and the holidays varies but has remained at more than 1,500 per month. The peak number of recipients occurs November through March. Food distriution averages approximately 12,000 pounds per month.
The Community Day Center of Waltham
   » http://communitydaycenter.tripod.com/

The Community Day Center opened in September 2003 in response to a specific need: the significant population of homeless adults in the City of Waltham had no place to spend their afternoons. This was true regardless of weather, illness, or other needs. The idea for an afternoon shelter was first raised by a city resident who had himself been homeless and who was aware of the lack of facilities. He took his concern to community and religious leaders, who worked together for over two years to prepare for the Center’s opening. Funding during the Center’s inaugural year came from churches and denominations, foundations, and over 300 individual donors from in and around Waltham.
